To develop the fundamental skills of throwing, some children from KS2 have been working on their throwing and agility skills. They have combined the skills taught and applied them during a game of dodgeball. #Sports #KS2

The Boccia club which runs each Tuesday lunchtime with Mrs McFarlane have been out to 2 events playing in the NRG Boccia tournament. All children have played well showing great determination and sportsmanship and have had fantastic days out representing Avondale. Yesterday, 3P showed off their musical talents. This term they have been learning how to play the ukulele. After only 9 lessons they have already learnt how to play chords and tunes whilst singing at the same time. Well done 3P! #3P #KS2 #Music #Parents

For staying on green traffic light this half term 3P chose to have a pyjama party. They changed into their pyjamas and dressing gowns and snuggled up with their teddies and watched a DVD. Everybody had a great time. Well done 3P! #3P #KS2 #Parents #PSHE #Year3

3P have been comparing Darwen to the Roman village of Ribchester. They used Google maps to look at what there is in Darwen and what there is in Ribchester. Most of them decided they preferred to live in Darwen because there was more to do. #geography #Parents #Year3 #KS2

On Monday, KS2 were very lucky to take part in an assembly delivered by Luke from the Believe and Succeed Academy. Luke talked to us all about how important it is to have a growth mindset and believe in ourselves. We all ended the assembly by believing that WE ARE AMAZING!! Today year 3 spent independent reading time together. Every day after lunch we have ERIC time. This stands for Everybody Reading in Class. In this time the children have reading for pleasure time. #English #Year3 #Parents #KS2

On Monday 5th March the school choir sang at the Sing Together concert at King Georges Hall with 15 other schools. The children behaved impeccably and sang beautifully too. I ws extremely proud of them! Mrs Pickup conducted and sang in the teachers choir. Thank you to Mrs Crossley, Mrs Eastwood and Miss Harrison for joining us.
