    Maths Week in Year 6

Year 6 have been busy during Maths week. We've kept going with our lessons on equivalent fractions and calculations involving fractions but we've managed to complete more creative maths-based activities. We were scratching our heads trying to make tangrams, measured angles in our initials and made amazing parabolic curves. A very busy week indeed! #year6 #MathsWeek

As part of Maths Week Year 6 children have been learning all about binary by playing some binary code games. Click the link below to play. #Year6 #Maths #Computing

    Darwen Heritage Centre

We furthered our studies of Victorian Darwen today by visiting the Heritage Centre. We walked into Darwen following the town centre trail which looks at old buildings and what they were during Victorian times. At the centre, we learned all about the cotton mills of Darwen and how this industry allowed the town to flourish during the late 1800s. The children very much enjoyed looking at old photographs of Victorian Darwen and comparing them to what they look like now. The

Year 6 were set extra homework during the holidays to create a project of their choice about the Victorians. We have very much enjoyed looking at the finished products including very creative ways of presenting the research. Well done to everyone who took the time to complete them and thank you for your support at home with this - it is much appreciated. We will share some of the presentations soon, watch this space! #year6 #History

    Brain Busting!

Some children in Year 6 were really using their skills with BODMAS to solve a tricky problem solving activity: Using the number 4, 4 times with any operations, can you make each number from 1-20? It made our brains ache! #Year6 #Maths

    Football Results

Absolutely fantastic football played last night. The team ‘smashed it’ against both St Edwards’ and St Joseph’s, with 15-2 and a 10-1 wins. Mr Clegg was super proud and said ‘This is the best I have seen them play so far this season and some of the goals were tremendous’. Well done to all team members. #Sports #Year5 #Year6
