We have had a brilliant first week back in reception.
In literacy we have continued to focus on the Leaf Man story but with a twist. This week we have been creating our own character for the story. There have been some brilliant ideas, from Conker man to tree man. The children completed some amazing writing linked to their new character.
In maths we learnt about the number 8 and all the different ways we can make this number.
We have also learnt our last 2 tricky words; GO NO. We now need to practise reading and writing all the fast words learnt.
In expressive arts we focused on the artist Kandinsky and his concentric circles. We created our own versions of this abstract picture using autumnal colour.
On Friday we sent home the first homework grid. Please look at the different activities and complete these with your child.
In week 2 we will be changing our class novel to Leaf Trouble, which is all about a squirrel named Pip who is very worried when the leaves fall off his beloved tree.
In literacy we will be writing a letter to Pip explaining what is happening.
During our topic work we are going to look at fireworks, what and when they are used. We are then going to create our own firework pictures.
