A great start to the New Year in Reception.

It has been a great start to the New Year in Reception!

This week we have been learning all about colours. We classified objects according to colour, learnt about the colours in a rainbow and worked collaboratively to collect coloured objects in order to create our own class rainbow. We learnt about the artist Mondrian and explored how he used primary colours in his artwork. We created our own paintings in his style.

In Literacy, this week we used our phonic knowledge to write about our Christmas holiday. We also learnt about our star rules for writing and how to follow these when writing a simple sentence.

This week, in our handwriting, we have focused upon the letters – l, I, t, u - as they are all formed using a similar movement. During continuous provision pupils have been encouraged to practise these letters in a variety of media e.g. glitter, shaving foam, flour, as well as with pencils.
