We furthered our studies of Victorian Darwen today by visiting the Heritage Centre. We walked into Darwen following the town centre trail which looks at old buildings and what they were during Victorian times. At the centre, we learned all about the cotton mills of Darwen and how this industry allowed the town to flourish during the late 1800s. The children very much enjoyed looking at old photographs of Victorian Darwen and comparing them to what they look like now. The volunteers at the centre were really welcoming and commented on our children's enthusiasm and good manners.
