• I am married with two children, both currently at University, my wife is a teacher at a local secondary school.

• I am a semi retired teacher, my last full time position being Head of Science at Witton Park High School.

• I have a degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry and I have a PhD in Chemistry.

• On leaving school I joined the Royal Navy serving as a submariner for 7 years. When I left the Royal Navy I became an Operational Firefighter with Lancashire County Fire Brigade, serving 15 years at Burnley fire station.

• My current interests include keeping fit, Rugby Union and I also have an allotment.
