Governors

Welcome

Welcome to the section of the website where you can find out more about the school’s governors, and the work that we do.

All Governors are encouraged to take an active part in the life and governance of the school as well as being given the opportunity to use and develop their own skills to help the children gain as much benefit as they possibly can from their time at Avondale Primary School.

Governing Board Diversity Data

The governors of Avondale Primary School believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

Due to the size of our governing board, we will not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.

School Governance

On 18 March 2016 the School Governance Constitution Regulations 2012 was amended so that all serving governors in maintained schools will be required to have an enhanced criminal records certificate (ECRC). This means that, by 1 September 2016, all serving governors must have an enhanced CRC and, from April 1 2016, governing bodies must have applied for an ECRC within 21 days of the election or appointment of a new governor.

We can confirm that all governors at Avondale School have had this completed, or are in the process of this being done.
