Mike Smith

• I am delighted to have been co-opted onto the Governing Body. I have always valued the ethos and quality of education at Avondale Primary School, as both my daughters attended the school and my wife taught at Avondale for over 20 happy years.

• I retired from full time teaching eight years ago and currently have the role of Professional Partnership Tutor with the University of Cumbria, having responsibility for overseeing student placements in the local area. Many of my  students have benefitted from the positive experience of teaching and being mentored in Avondale Primary School.

• I am keen to use my experience and skills for the benefit of the children and the Governing Body of the school.
