A letter to Tinker the elf.

In 1B, we have an elf called Tinker. He is a 'little tinker' to say the least and he gets up to all sorts of mischief. This week, we have been writing letters to him, to tell him all about our school values at Avondale. The children enjoyed reading their letters to him today and Tinker enjoyed listening to them. #English #Year1 #1B #English

    Year 1's story innovations (videos)

The teachers in Year 1 have been absolutely blown away with the fantastic story innovations that the children have come up with from the story 'George and the Dragon.' They have drawn, talked about and also performed their version of the story and we are so so proud of their progress. Take a look at some of the videos of the children performing their own stories. #English #Oracy #Year1 #1B #1R

Year 1 have been reading the book 'Katie in London'. They have worked super hard this week to create a diary entry. The children put themselves in to Katie's shoes and wrote a diary entry about the different sights they saw and visited when exploring London. Take a look at our wonderful writers in Year 1! #English #Year1

    Learning all about the U.K

Year 1 have been learning all about the U.K. In English, they have read a book called 'Katie in London' and explored the different sights that London has to offer. In Geography, they have learnt all about the 4 countries that make up the UK. They have also been super creative using some of Miss Bolton's spare coat hangers (she had a big clear out over the weekend). They have made 'UK mobiles' and hanging off them are all the characters and attractions that Katie comes across

    Iron Man in 4B

Today, we have started our new class novel 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We have learnt a part of the first chapter using a story map. This section focuses on descriptive language and the children performed it brilliantly using actions. After that, we used the creative language to inspire us to make our own Iron Men from recyclable materials. This has definitely hooked us on our book! Take a look at the children's fantastic work. #4B #Year4 #English #Reading #Oracy #Performin
