Year 1 pupils have been loving completing Christmas activities on Purple Mash. Here are some of their great designs.

Every Tuesday lunchtime, a dedicated group of Avondale’s young Digital Leaders give up their break to dive into the world of technology — and what an amazing job they’re doing! Over the past few weeks, our Digital Leaders have been hard at work creating online animated Christmas stories  for our younger children. Their creativity has shone through as they bring festive characters to life on screen, designing stories that are fun, imaginative, and perfect for getting everyone

Following on from our work with animations in Year 2, Oliver from Class 2P drew a Santa picture which we upload to an online platform and using AI made the picture move.

In today’s computing lesson, we brought history to life by animating The Great Fire of London . The children created animations showing how the fire started in a bakery and spread through the city. It was a fun way to combine computing skills like sequencing and storytelling with learning about history. Seeing their animations unfold helped everyone understand the speed and impact of the fire—making history both visual and memorable!

This week in Computing, our Year 2 children have been exploring the exciting world of digital animation ! Using simple animation software, they learned how to bring their ideas and stories to life, one frame at a time. The children began by designing their own characters and backgrounds, then experimented with making small changes between each frame to create the illusion of movement. Year 1 children have enjoyed using the computers to explore the different art programs on Purple Mash. They enjoyed creating some Autumn Leaf designs and using the different tools to make some fantastic designs.

Year 4 have been creating their own avatars. These will help to keep the children safe when using online platforms.
