A huge well done to our 2P Spelling stars. They have consistently scored highly in their spelling tests this half term. Special mention to Mojola, Oliver and Oliver who have scored 10/10 on every Spelling test so far.

2P have had a great day. All the children look fantastic in their Christmas jumpers and are ready for Christmas dinner and party games this afternoon. Happy Christmas to all of our family and friends from Mrs Pickup, Mrs Gullick and 2P.

We had a lovely day with our gardeners (Year 6) and seeds (EYFS), completing lots of fun Christmas crafts! It was a brilliant end to the school year!

We had a great DT lesson learning how to cut, slice, grate, mix and pour different foods to prepare ourselves for making our healthy smoothies this week!

Year 1 pupils have been loving completing Christmas activities on Purple Mash. Here are some of their great designs.

Thursday Year 3 was filled with pure imagination  as they celebrated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Day. Children arrived in fantastic costumes—from Oompa Loompas to Willy Wonka—and took part in creative writing, art, drama and design challenges inspired by the story. A truly scrumdiddlyumptious day for everyone!  🍬✨

This week in Breakfast Club we have been building wooden snowman which was lots of fun.

Every Tuesday lunchtime, a dedicated group of Avondale’s young Digital Leaders give up their break to dive into the world of technology — and what an amazing job they’re doing! Over the past few weeks, our Digital Leaders have been hard at work creating online animated Christmas stories  for our younger children. Their creativity has shone through as they bring festive characters to life on screen, designing stories that are fun, imaginative, and perfect for getting everyone

Following on from our work with animations in Year 2, Oliver from Class 2P drew a Santa picture which we upload to an online platform and using AI made the picture move.

We had an amazing day celebrating colour! We explored a celery colour experiment, enjoyed marble painting, tried colour mixing in different ways, and listened to lots of stories about colour, including our key text for this week — Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You Hear?” 🐻

3B had a fab afternoon testing lots of different delicious, healthy smoothies in D.T! Our class favourite was the Blueberry Focus which had blueberries, strawberries and apples in!

We investigated the difference between high and low pitch sounds in our Science lesson this afternoon. Some of our pan pipes were really helpful to our investigation and some not so much!

Last week, we took a group of year 6 children to a Ten Pin bowling event hosted by Panathlon. The game was skillfully played with lots of spares and a couple of strikes bowled, gaining the team 3 rd  place! Lexi even managed to get a special certificate for scoring a whopping 103 points!

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents who were able to join us for our Christmas/ Winter themed Stay and Play! We hope you had a fantastic time making lots of lovely memories and crafts with your children. Our next Stay and Play will take place in the spring term, where hopefully it will be a little bit warmer!

We have been enjoying our topic about old and new toys. Today, we got some old toys out to look at and compare to toys we have today. We loved trying some of them out too!
