Thursday Year 3 was filled with pure imagination  as they celebrated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Day. Children arrived in fantastic costumes—from Oompa Loompas to Willy Wonka—and took part in creative writing, art, drama and design challenges inspired by the story. A truly scrumdiddlyumptious day for everyone!  🍬✨

Every Tuesday lunchtime, a dedicated group of Avondale’s young Digital Leaders give up their break to dive into the world of technology — and what an amazing job they’re doing! Over the past few weeks, our Digital Leaders have been hard at work creating online animated Christmas stories  for our younger children. Their creativity has shone through as they bring festive characters to life on screen, designing stories that are fun, imaginative, and perfect for getting everyone

Following on from our work with animations in Year 2, Oliver from Class 2P drew a Santa picture which we upload to an online platform and using AI made the picture move.

We had an amazing day celebrating colour! We explored a celery colour experiment, enjoyed marble painting, tried colour mixing in different ways, and listened to lots of stories about colour, including our key text for this week — Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You Hear?” 🐻

3B had a fab afternoon testing lots of different delicious, healthy smoothies in D.T! Our class favourite was the Blueberry Focus which had blueberries, strawberries and apples in!

We investigated the difference between high and low pitch sounds in our Science lesson this afternoon. Some of our pan pipes were really helpful to our investigation and some not so much!

Last week, we took a group of year 6 children to a Ten Pin bowling event hosted by Panathlon. The game was skillfully played with lots of spares and a couple of strikes bowled, gaining the team 3 rd  place! Lexi even managed to get a special certificate for scoring a whopping 103 points!

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents who were able to join us for our Christmas/ Winter themed Stay and Play! We hope you had a fantastic time making lots of lovely memories and crafts with your children. Our next Stay and Play will take place in the spring term, where hopefully it will be a little bit warmer!

We have been enjoying our topic about old and new toys. Today, we got some old toys out to look at and compare to toys we have today. We loved trying some of them out too!

3B had the BEST day visiting Gazegill and Slack farm today!

In today’s computing lesson, we brought history to life by animating The Great Fire of London . The children created animations showing how the fire started in a bakery and spread through the city. It was a fun way to combine computing skills like sequencing and storytelling with learning about history. Seeing their animations unfold helped everyone understand the speed and impact of the fire—making history both visual and memorable!

6J have been working hard to design, paint and print their own wallpaper in the style of William Morris. They then used technology to help recreate repeating patterns using their designs.

This week we learned about Remembrance Day, created our own leaf men using natural resources linked to our key text, and loved exploring our new Reception outdoor equipment. It’s been another wonderful week full of laughter and smiles in Reception! 🌹🍂🌟

4F were learning how to peel, chop, slice and dice in our D.T lesson this afternoon.
